Menengic, which is the main plant of Menengic Coffee, is a gum tree and is a kind of pistachio tree that grows wild in the high parts of Southeastern Anatolia, Central Anatolia and the Mediterranean region in our country. Known as Pictacia Perebinthus in Latin and named itlembik, tlk, Bittm and edene according to the regions where it is grown, this plant grows slowly and can grow up to 10 meters at most. Although it grows in all soil types, it gives the best yield in dry and soft soil. Menengi blooms in red and takes a blue/purple color when mature. The ripened cedenines are collected, washed, then dried. After it is dried, it goes to the roasting process, it is roasted just like coffee until it turns dark brown. After the normal coffee roasting process, the roasted cedenines are crushed until they reach a paste-like consistency. The oily and granular paste obtained is called Menengic Coffee. Menengic coffee does not contain caffeine like other coffees. Because it is completely natural, its benefits are endless. It is good for shortness of breath, vocal cords, respiratory tract, stomach, kidney sand. It also has an aphrodisiac effect. It contains protein, fiber, fat, phosphorus, calcium, iron, potassium, vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin C and vitamin E. It has no known side effects. As with everything else, it is useful to be in moderation while consuming this drink.
