HOMEMAID Cellulose Butterfly Mop Replacement Refill Sponge Quick & Easy Change Replacement Refill Sponge Large Super Absorbent (9-1/2 x 3-1/4 x 1-1/4) Dual-Layered Natural Cellulose / Polyester Foam Sponge Design for Greater Absorbency and Water Retention Floors Dry Cleaner and Faster 6-1/2 Inch Center to Center Hole Spacing, Snap-Fits Into 1/4" Diameter Round Metal Wing Holes Replacement Refill Sponge Head Fits HOMEMAID Butterfly Mops HMC27969, HMC27819 & HMC27809, Birdwell 545 & Refill 383, Butler 1420 & Refill 2420, Ocedar 222 & Refill 223 Quality Product Made in USA * How to replace the Refill Sponge on your Butterfly Mop * First, you will need to remove the old sponge from your Butterfly Mop using one of the three methods listed below: Option #1) - This is how we do it on the production line. Lay the mop on a flat surface, with the sponge down, so it lays flat just as if you were mopping the floor. Then tap the top of the plastic snap studs that hold the sponge to the mop. Give it a couple good hard taps with a hard object until they release. Be careful not to hit the metal part of the mop, as we are only trying to get the plastic snap on the sponge to release. Option #2) - Nip or cut off the top of the plastic stud with a pair of side cutters. Once the top of the plastic snap stud is removed, it will release from the mop and fall right out. Option #3) - Insert a screwdriver between the metal wings and the plastic backplates and give it a twist. Make sure you insert the screwdriver at the ends of the sponge, as there is a slot that the screwdriver will fit right in. Then give it a twist. Now that the Sponge has been removed. We need to install the new replacement refill sponge on the mop. Our refill sponges have snaps on the plastic studs, that will need to be snapped in place to secure the sponge to the mop. Please follow the instructions below, 1) Align the plastic sponge studs with the holes in the metal butterfly mop wings. 2) Once the plastic studs are in the holes. 3) Then apply pressure with both your thumbs on the sponge side of the refill, directly opposite or beneath the plastic stud, while wrapping your fingers around the metal wing at the same time. This will allow you to generate enough pressure to snap the refill sponge on the mop. 4) Once you hear the snap or click, then that side is attached. Then do the same for the other side. Now that both sides are attached, you should be good to go. I hope this helps and makes it easy to change out your Butterfly Mop Refill Sponge. Thank you for supporting our American Made products. We appreciate your business. HOMEMAID Cleaning Products Please Note: Our Butterfly Mop Refill Sponge is designed with dual snaps on each stud to fit slightly different sized wing holes. If your refill ever becomes loose or falls off, you may need to snap your sponge to the second set of snaps due to the size of the wing holes on your particular mop.
