The higher the pepper mesh size, the finer the pepper grind. This is the pepper most people associate with use in table top pepper shakers; sometimes called restaurant ground black pepper. Pepper any larger than this will not shake through pepper fillers or shakers. The taste of black pepper should be pungent and felt at the back of the throat and tongue. There should be a slight, but not overwhelming, burn to this taste. The aroma of black pepper is best described as warm and musty.
